What is HMPV?

Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a respiratory virus that affects people of all ages.   It’s a leading cause of respiratory infections globally, especially during winter and spring.

How Does HMPV Spread?

Person-to-person contact through respiratory droplets. Touching surfaces contaminated by the virus. Close proximity to an infected person increases the risk.

Common Symptoms of HMPV 

Mild Cases: – Runny nose – Cough – Sore throat – Fever Severe Cases: – Shortness of breath – Wheezing – Pneumonia

Who is Most at Risk? 

1. Infants and young children  Older adults (65+)  2. Immunocompromised individuals  3. Those with chronic lung or heart conditions

Prevention Tips 

1. Wash hands frequently.  2. Wear a mask in crowded places.  3. Disinfect commonly touched surfaces.  4. Avoid close contact with sick individuals.
