Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel, even if it is in a bad guy role at this point was meant with the idea of where the MCU story would be heading next.
Who Is Doctor Doom?
Indeed, Doctor Doom is an incredible villain for the Fantastic Four movie reboot as he draws power from both science and sorcery. Doom covers up his face with a mask following some minor facial scars ruining any vanity he had – and in several comic takes, scarring himself.
The Role of Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom, also known as Victor Von Doom, is one of the deepest and most powerful villains in Marvel overall alongside being Dr. One of the greatest scientific minds in the Marvel Universe, and ruler of his nation through both Iron Fisted militant control as well as mystical arts Doomivated over him by Doctor Strange. The one to look out for is his headstrong, scientific arrogance, and profound social rivalry with the Fantastic Four characters. We can assume Downey Jr.’s Doom would add a level of depth and mystery to the character, something that mixes both his cinematic charm with brooding darkness.
From Hero to Villain
Over the span of a decade, Robert Downey Jr. became synonymous with Tony Stark/Iron Man within the MCU. His arc of character from a broken billionaire playboy to being the one who saved us when we were not able, was engaging and emotional as well as ending in an overwhelming climax ‘Avenger – End game’. It’s a daring leap while it opts to cast him as one of the smartest, most charismatic (most), and evil-layered characters between villains in “his” — Doctor Doom.
One of the most popular supervillains in Marvel is punctual, Doctor Doom. Known for his intelligence, magic abilities, and dictatorship over the fictional world of Latveria; Doom is a character that strikes respect with fear. The Russo Brothers Return
Downey Jr.’s return as the Doctor Doom is at least partially in service of Marvel’s ever-expanding narrative: that new stories and characters would be introduced, but never to replace its legendary cast. The casting of Downey Jr. as Doom is a bold choice on Marvel’s part, showing it refuses to become lazy with its cinematic universe. It sets the stage for future movies as well, and what adventures Black Panther may have down the line with other Marvel characters.
