Mumbai Indians’ skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and was elected to bowl first against the Gujarat Titans. Gujarat has chosen not to make any adjustments to its playing 11 for this game.
Gujarat Titans have off to a fine start by opting to bat first against Mumbai Indians. Gujarat had reached 66 runs without losing a single wicket after the power play. Gill is on the field after making 32 runs, and Sudarshan is on the field after making 32 runs. With this, Gill has achieved 1000 runs in IPL in Ahmedabad.
This is the 450th T20 game of former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma. Rohit is the sixth batsman globally to have played that many games in T20. The record for playing the most games in T20 is in the name of Kieron Pollard, who has played 695 games.
Thanks to the excellent batting of opener Sai Sudarshan, the Gujarat Titans have posed a challenge of 197 runs for the Mumbai Indians to conquer. Mumbai had won the toss and opted for bowling, and Gujarat made 196 runs in eight wickets in 20 overs on the back of Sudarshan’s 63-run innings with four fours and two sixes off 41 balls.
Except for Sudarshan, none of the Gujarat batsmen were able to play big innings. Captain Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets for Mumbai, while Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Satyanarayan Raju took one wicket each. Gill and Sudarshan provided Gujarat with a good platform by opting to bat first, and they contributed 78 runs for the opening wicket.
Gill was run out after making 38 runs in 27 balls. Once Gill was sent back, Sudarshan and Jos Buttler scored 51 runs together, but he too got out after scoring 39 runs. Sudarshan went on to score his eighth half-century of his IPL career and played some decent shots. Once Sudarshan got out, Gujarat’s innings slowed down, and it failed to cross the 200-run mark.
Mumbai Indians, who stepped out to chase the target, were dealt the initial blow in the very first over. Once the initial blows have been suffered, the third wicket partnership of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma is going great. Mumbai has mustered 69 runs for two wickets following the completion of eight overs. Mumbai must make 128 runs in 72 balls in order to win now. Suryakumar and Tilak forged a 34-run third-wicket partnership.

Following the batting of Sai Sudarshan, Gujarat Titans began the victory account by beating Mumbai Indians by 36 runs through a superb display of the bowlers. Gujarat batted first and managed to score 196 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs with Sudarshan’s half-century. While batting in reply, the team of Mumbai Indians was only able to score 160 runs for six wickets in the same number of overs. Suryakumar Yadav made the top 48 runs for Mumbai, while Tilak Verma scored an innings of 39 runs. Nobody else could impress apart from these two batsmen. While chasing the target, Mumbai did not play well and lost Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton’s wickets in quick succession.
Following this, Tilak Verma and Suryakumar Yadav attempted to make a comeback by contributing 62 runs for the third wicket, but after both of them were dismissed, Mumbai’s innings lost momentum. This is Mumbai’s second loss, and it has failed to open the victory account in IPL 2025 till now. For Mumbai, skipper Hardik Pandya scored 11, Rohit Sharma scored eight, Rickleton six, and Robin Minj three runs. Other than that, Naman Dheer and Mitchell Santner came back unbeaten scoring 18-18 runs each. For Gujarat, Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna each got two wickets, and Kagiso Rabada and R Sai Kishore got one each.
