Moradabad Police Solve the Murder of Woman Constable, Arrest Husband and Accomplice
Moradabad police have uncovered the truth behind the murder of a woman constable. Her husband, also a constable, along with his brother-in-law, was behind the brutal act. Both have been arrested, shedding light on the gruesome crime.
The case came to light near Devapur village by the banks of the Ramganga river in Moradabad’s Katghar area. A headless body was discovered, and upon identifying it, police arrested the deceased’s husband and his relative. The victim was a constable in the UP Police, while her husband held the same position.
The Suspicion Grows
The Moradabad police shared the deceased’s photo on social media to help identify the body. Ramganga’s Civil Lines Police also received the images and showed them to a constable. However, he denied knowing the woman, which raised doubts. When the victim’s family was shown the body, they confirmed her identity. Harwati Devi, the victim’s mother, identified the deceased as her daughter, Rinki, who had been married to Sonu since 2013.
The Marital Strife
Both Rinki and Sonu were stationed in Rampur as constables. According to Rinki’s mother, Sonu suspected Rinki of having an affair with Ompal, a man from her village, which led to frequent domestic disputes. Rinki had even shared her grievances with her mother. On October 14, Rinki’s mother tried to reach her, but her phone was unreachable. When she contacted Sonu, he claimed that Rinki had left the house.
Missing Report and Grim Discovery
A missing person’s report was filed, and by October 16, Rinki’s family had reached Rampur. Two days later, on October 18, news of a woman’s body being found reached the Rampur police. Despite Sonu’s initial refusal to recognize the photos, the victim’s family identified the body, prompting the police to arrest Sonu.

Children’s Future in Jeopardy
With their mother murdered and father in jail, the future of Rinki and Sonu’s two sons, Aarav (12) and Akshit (9), looks uncertain. Sonu, a native of Raipur Khadar village in Bijnor’s Chandpur area, was stationed at Rampur’s Special Intelligence Unit. The tragic incident raises questions about the children’s care and upbringing after these events.
The Brutal Murder Moradabad: Strangulation and Beheading
Sonu confessed to the crime, revealing that he killed Rinki by strangling her at their home in Lakshminagar, Rampur, suspecting her of an illicit affair. His brother-in-law, Brajpal, aided him. After the murder, they decapitated Rinki’s body and disposed of it near the Ramganga River, separating the head and torso. The police later recovered both body parts, along with the car and knife used in the crime.
Police Investigation and Arrest
The investigation revealed that the headless body found by Ramganga’s banks belonged to Rinki (35), a female constable from Rampur. On Saturday, Rampur police announced that Rinki’s husband, Sonu Kumar, and his brother-in-law Brajpal, were arrested for the crime, driven by suspicions of Rinki’s extramarital relationship.
Initially, Sonu had filed a missing report for his wife on October 14. However, after an intensive investigation, including phone records, police discovered the truth. On October 17, the body of an unknown woman was found near the Ramganga River. Sub-Inspector Tarun Verma led the investigation and identified the body through a tattoo of “Om” on her right hand and a distinctive nail on one finger. Sonu eventually confessed, admitting his suspicions of Rinki’s alleged affair, leading to frequent arguments and ultimately, the murder.
