Independence Day is a day that makes us feel free and secure. It reminds us of the inspiring journey, continuous struggle, and sacrifices of our great leaders.
India’s freedom struggle lasted for more than a century. The British East India Company first came to India in the early 17th century only to trade, but gradually they took over India’s resources and colonized the country.
By the 19th century, the British took over India and made it a direct colony. After many years of oppression and slavery, some people were ready to fight against the injustice done by the British.
The Indian National Congress (INC) was formed as an organization for the independence of the country. The INC first became a platform for political dialogue. However, the movement gained real momentum when Mahatma Gandhi came to India.

Through the concept of ‘peaceful protest’ Mahatma Gandhi gave India the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and Quit India Movement. People started joining these movements of Gandhiji on a large scale.
Meanwhile, the Second World War started. As British control weakened, the demand for independence intensified. The efforts of various freedom fighters eventually led to the British having to admit defeat.
After a long struggle, India gained independence from the British. India was declared an independent nation on 15 August 1947. Many freedom fighters including Mangal Pandey, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh sacrificed their lives for the independence of India.
Finally, end your speech by thanking everyone.
