    8th Pay Commission

    This central government’s decision will increase the salary of crores of employees. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided to form the 8th Pay Commission. This commission has to submit its report by 2026. The 7th Pay Commission was constituted in 2016 and its tenure will end in 2026.

    In the new year, the central government has given lakhs of central employees a gift. On Thursday, the central government announced approval for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. After the formation, the salary of the employees and the pension of the pensioners will increase based on the report of the commission. The number of people to be benefited will be more than one crore.

    Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided to approve the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The 7th Pay Commission was constituted in 2016 and its term will end in 2026. Vaishnav further said that the chairman and two members of the commission will be appointed soon.

    More than one crore employees and pensioners will get the benefit

    More than one crore central government employees and pensioners were waiting for this move of the government. They were looking forward to the formation of the commission to help revise their basic salary, allowances, pension, and other benefits. Announcing this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the commission will be constituted by 2026. He further reiterated that the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission have already been implemented.

    The government will later give information about other details of the commission including members. The Seventh Pay Commission has made significant changes in the salary structure, allowances, and pensions of central government employees. Which ensured pay parity and benefited both active employees and retired pensioners. After this, now the 8th Central Pay Commission is going to be constituted.

    Formation of 8th Pay Commission will improve quality of life: PM Modi

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the decision of the Union Cabinet on the 8th Pay Commission will improve the quality of life and boost consumption. PM Modi said in a post on ‘X’, we are all proud of the efforts of all government employees who work to build a developed India. The Cabinet decision on the 8th Pay Commission will improve the quality of life and boost consumption.

    On the approval of the Union Cabinet to set up the third launch pad (TLP) at ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, the Prime Minister said that this will strengthen the space sector and encourage scientists. He said, today’s Cabinet decision to set up the third launch pad in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh will strengthen our space sector and encourage our scientists.

    When will the 8th Pay Commission be effective?

    Traditionally, the Central Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years to review and recommend changes in the pay scales, allowances, and benefits of central government employees. This commission makes decisions by taking into account factors such as inflation and economic conditions. The 7th Pay Commission, constituted on February 28, 2014, by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, submitted its report on November 19, 2015, whose recommendations were implemented from January 1, 2016.

    Based on this timeline, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be effective from January 1, 2026. Like previous commissions, there is likely to be a revision of salaries under the recommendations of this pay commission. Adjustments will be made in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners based on the recommendations of the commission.
