    Microsoft biggest global IT outage

    On Friday, July 19, tech giant Microsoft’s biggest global IT outage was reported from all over the world. Microsoft offers various services globally in the technology field. One of their cloud-powered productivity platform ‘Microsoft 365’ was affected due to this outage. Which directly impacted various banks, airlines, and other several businesses.

    As per the reports, due to this outage, the London Stock Exchange was facing disruption. However, the Indian Stock Exchange and any Stock Exchanges did not report any issues.

    Because of this global IT outage Global airlines sectors, Indian airline companies like Indigo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air released statements that they are facing difficulties with some of their services like online check-ins and flight booking. Also, Mumbai and Delhi airport authorities reported that their operation was also affected.

    Due to this outage, SpiceJet released a statement on X “We’re currently facing a technical issue in providing updates on flight disruptions. Our team is actively working to resolve this issue. We regret for any inconvenience caused and will update you once the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”

    “Our systems across the network are impacted by an ongoing issue with Microsoft Azure, which has resulted in increased wait times at our contact centers and airports. You may experience slower check-ins and longer queues. We are all hands on deck and are working relentlessly to restore stability and normalcy. Our digital team is also coordinating closely with Microsoft Azure to resolve these issues swiftly. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,” this statement was posted by IndiGo on X because of Microsoft’s biggest global IT outage.

    New airline Akasa Air stated Microsoft’s biggest global IT outage, “Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in, and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable. Currently, we are following manual check-in and boarding processes at the airports and hence request passengers with immediate travel plans to reach the airport early to check in at our counters. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and want to assure you that our teams are working with our service provider to resolve the same at the earliest.”

    Melbourne Airport reports that “Melbourne Airport is experiencing a global technology issue which is impacting check-in procedures for some airlines. Passengers flying with these airlines this afternoon are advised to allow a little extra time to check-in. Please check with your airline for flight updates.”

    Passengers are requested to be in touch with the airline concerned or the help desk on ground for updated flight information.

    Due to the global IT issue, some of the services at the Delhi Airport were temporarily impacted. We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimize the inconvenience to our flyers. Passengers are requested to be in touch with the airline concerned or the help desk on the ground for updated flight information. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers.” Delhi Airport said in a statement because of Microsoft biggest global IT outage.
